Nonreciprocal spin waves driven by left-hand microwaves

چکیده

It is a conventional wisdom that left-hand microwave cannot efficiently excite the spin wave (SW) in ferromagnets, due to constraint of angular momentum conservation. In this work, we show can drive nonreciprocal SWs presence strong ellipticity-mismatch between and precessing magnetization. A critical frequency predicted, at which SWs. Away from it SW amplitude sensitively depends on ellipticity microwaves, sharp contrast case driven by right-hand ones. By tuning frequency, observe switchable non-reciprocity ferromagnetic single layer. mode-dependent mutual demagnetizing factor proposed explain finding. Our work advances understanding photon-magnon conversion, paves way designing diode-like functionalities nano-scaled magnonics.

Giant nonreciprocal emission of spin waves in Ta/Py bilayers

Spin waves are propagating disturbances in the magnetization of magnetic materials. One of their interesting properties is nonreciprocity, exhibiting that their amplitude depends on the magnetization direction. Nonreciprocity in spin waves is of great interest in both fundamental science and applications because it offers an extra knob to control the flow of waves for the technological fields o...

Spin-Hall nano-oscillator with oblique magnetization and Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction as generator of skyrmions and nonreciprocal spin-waves

Spin-Hall oscillators (SHO) are promising sources of spin-wave signals for magnonics applications, and can serve as building blocks for magnonic logic in ultralow power computation devices. Thin magnetic layers used as "free" layers in SHO are in contact with heavy metals having large spin-orbital interaction, and, therefore, could be subject to the spin-Hall effect (SHE) and the interfacial Dz...

Fast Magnetosonic Waves Driven by Gravitational Waves

The propagation of a gravitational wave (GW) through a magnetized plasma is considered. In particular, we study the excitation of fast magnetosonic waves (MSW) by a gravitational wave, using the linearized general-relativistic hydromagnetic equations. We derive the dispersion relation for the plasma, treating the gravitational wave as a perturbation in a Minkowski background space-time. We show...

Current driven magnetization dynamics in helical spin density waves.

A mechanism is proposed for manipulating the magnetic state of a helical spin density wave using a current. It is shown that a current through a bulk metal with a helical spin density wave induces a spin transfer torque, which gives rise to a rotation of the order parameter. The use of spin transfer torque to manipulate the magnetization in bulk systems does not suffer from the obstacles seen f...

Excitation of coherent propagating spin waves by pure spin currents.

Utilization of pure spin currents not accompanied by the flow of electrical charge provides unprecedented opportunities for the emerging technologies based on the electron's spin degree of freedom, such as spintronics and magnonics. It was recently shown that pure spin currents can be used to excite coherent magnetization dynamics in magnetic nanostructures. However, because of the intrinsic no...
